Twirlers Square Dance Club

The Canyon Lake Twirlers will give a demonstration of Modern Square Dancing at the pre-game show of the Lake Elsinore Storm game on Saturday, September 1, at 5:30 p.m. Dancers will include club members from 13 to seniors, and each will wear their favorite dance attire ? from cowboy boots and jeans to petticoats and ruffles.

The Beginning Square Dance Class is open to singles, couples and families. Children must be at least 10 years of age and accompanied by an adult at all times. It's held every Wednesday, 7 to 8:15 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. Regular club dances are held on the second Sunday of each month in the Holiday Bay Room.

Beginner line dance classes are held every Tuesday, 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Lodge. All ages are welcome. A beginning to intermediate line dance class is offered Wednesdays, 3 to 5 p.m., in the Holiday Bay Room. Each class is $4. Women's Connection

The Canyon Lake Women's Connection's first luncheon of the season will be held Wednesday, September 12, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Lodge. Cost is $15 all-inclusive. Guest speaker Charisse Williams will present "The joy of becoming a great friend." Music will be provided by “strolling minstrel” Don Rayl.

Reservations are required by September 6 by calling 674-7221 or 600-0340. The names of those who bring a first-time visitor to CLWC will be entered into a  drawing for a gift basket.

Wakeboard Club

The Wakeboard Club will continue its tournament series in the Lake Elsinore Channel on August 25 and September 15. Registration for the competitions begins at 8 a.m. and contests/riding begins promptly at 9. Late entries will not be accepted. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

The last Learn to Ride Day is September 9 in the North Ski Area's back bay. The year end awards banquet is on October 13.

The Tennis Club invites residents to come out for Social Play on Mondays and Fridays at 8 a.m. It is open to all levels of players and is a way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. For more information, contact Dave Harrigan at 746-3460 or davenjean@canyontennis.net.

Roadrunners

Roadrunners RV Club meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. There are about 115 members representing about 60 recreational vehicles in in the club. For more information about Roadrunners or about trips, contact Larry Mensch 244-3219 or ljmensch@verizon.net.

Travel Club

Costa Rica is the destination for travelers September 8 to 15. Tour Nashville and Memphis, the home of the Grand Ole Opry and Elvis Presley’s Graceland, on October 11 to 18. Attend the Wheel of Fortune taping on October 18.

CLAMS

The CLAMS annual trip to the Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin is on September 16 to 18. The cost is $230 per room, double occupancy; $150 for singles, which includes round trip wet bar, baggage handling, taxes and tips. Applications can be found in the travel kiosks at the Country Club, Lodge and POA office. For more information, call Howard Nelson at 244-8957.

CLAWS

All Canyon Lake women are invited to attend the Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) Group Bunco on the second Wednesday of the month in the Magnolia Room, downstairs at the Country Club. Cost is $10 for player card. Participants are asked to bring canned/packaged food for the community cupboard. For more information, contact Nancy Novak at 244-1171.

Fitness and Triathlon Club

Each month the Fitness and Triathlon Club holds a triathlon or duathlon, which are free for paid members. To prepare for these events, the club offers four group practices each week ? i.e. two swim sessions, a bike ride and a run. Pinochle Club

New members are welcome to join the Pinochle Club, which plays every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Towne Center Conference Room. For more information, call Hal Funk at 244-3216 or Marlys Shilling at 244-4241.

Motorcycle Club

The Canyon Lake Motorcycle club meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month, at 7 p.m at the North Shore Condominiums clubhouse, Vacation Dr. and Bass Pl. Rides are planned as the weather continues to improve. Those who would like to join the club for future outings are invited to sign onto Meetup.Com/canyonlakemotorcycleclub.com.

Kids Club

Canyon Lake Kids Club meets at Blue Bird Hall each Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Buy a 10-class punch card and get two classes free. This month's theme is Back to School, with crafts, games and review of the alphabet and numbers. Families are invited to check the Canyon Lake Kids Club's Facebook page.

Lioness Club

The Canyon Lake Lioness Club holds a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. Those interested in attending or learning more about the organization should call Membership Chair Rita Wacker at 244-1881.

The Lioness Club is part of the world’s largest service organization. Lions Club International is dedicated to helping the sight impaired and people in need around the world.

Bosom Buddies

The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey. If you or anyone you know is diagnosed with breast cancer have them call Janelle Basham at 515-0500 or Kimbo Slingerland at 609-4044, or visit clbosombuddies.com.

Street Carts

Street Carts of Canyon Lake raises money through fun events to help local families in need. For more information, contact Mike Shroyer at 244-6461.

Chair Volleyball

Members of the Chair Volleyball Club play on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9:45 a.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. The game is played using a beach ball and a slightly lowered net while players are seated.

Occasionally, the meeting time changes if an event is scheduled in the Holiday Bay Room, so visitors should check with Karen Bevans at 246-1444 or karenbevans@hotmail.com before heading over there. Membership dues are $10 per year.

Art Association

The club will be “dark” in July and August.

Yacht Club

Meetings of the Yacht Club are held the fourth Thursday of the month in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. Boat ownership is not a criterion for membership. Members enjoy fun events throughout the year, including the moonlight cruise, progressive dinner, Oktoberfest, Lake cleanup and more. Bassmasters

The Bassmasters have meetings in the Towne Center Conference Room on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. and hold a tournament on the following Saturday. They also hold six team tournaments per year, which are open to all residents of Canyon Lake.

The club’s schedule can be found at canyonlakebassmasters.com. The club is active in many community events and hosts the annual Kids Fishing Derby each August. The club also sponsors a Junior Bassmasters Club. Those interested in learning more about bass fishing and low-pressure competition should contact Bassmasters President Chuck Moreno at 244-4277.
