The scientific explanation of the dramatic red and orange sunsets so often witnessed in Canyon Lake has something to do with a multicolored spectrum, gaseous molecules, trace water vapor and gases, atmospheric slants, scattering of light wavelengths and domination of perception of sky color. Whew! Whatever the reason, there's something magical and enticing about the warm colors that only appear near sunrise and sunset; colors that seduce people to stop and watch the sun disappear behind the horizon.
