McCollum's 1957 T-Bird is Car of the Month

Article

The Canyon Lake Car Club has chosen a 1957 T-Bird as its April Car of the Month. Owner Art McCollum first acquired the car in December 2006, after reading about it in a Penny Saver ad in Temecula.

The original owner, who owned a body shop on D St. in San Bernardino, had passed away nine years earlier. Art says the car had been up on blocks since that time. It was a labor of love as Art sanded and primed the T-Bird himself, then had it painted at Earl Sheib. Art also did the engine work, "with some help from the Mrs." and some tools borrowed from friend Bob Earlywine.

The Canyon Lake Car Club will supply more than 20 convertibles to the Association for the Fiesta Day Parade, plus many other hot rods and classics.

The Canyon Lake Car Show is on October 11, and registration forms are available now at the POA and online at www.canyonalakecarclub.com

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening. Anyone owning a pre-1973 vehicle is welcome. Visit www.canyonlakecarclub.com or e-mail clcarclub@gmail.com.
