'Little Shop of Horrors' coming to Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake Community Theatre announces its fall show, “Little Shop of Horrors,” will open this month at Indian Beach. This cult classic opens on September 19 and runs September 19, 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28. All shows begin at 8 p.m.

There will be a special pre-show event featuring children of the community beginning at 7:30 each performance night. On September 20, at 5:30, there will be a special dinner show. Ticket price for the dinner is $35, which includes VIP seats for the show.

Tickets for show only are $15 for VIP seats, $10 for general seating and $8 for students and seniors.

“Little Shop of Horrors” is a comedy rock opera by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The music, composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several well-known tunes. These include the title song, "Skid Row (Downtown)," “Somewhere That's Green” and "Suddenly, Seymour." "Audience members will walk away humming the catchy tunes after a fun-filled evening under the stars at Indian Beach," says spokesperson Leslie Vecchione.
