Celebrating independence and the 'American Way'

Celebrating independence and the 'American Way'

During this 4th of July weekend in Canyon Lake, the Memorial Park in the Towne Center, as photographed this week by Barbara Spraul, reminds residents of many kinds of "heroes." First, of course, are those who fought and died for the birth of our country 237 years ago. Over two centuries, many wars have been waged and many have fought and died in defense of the freedoms claimed in America's found…

Photo of the Week

By the time Canyon Lakers find The Friday Flyer in their mailboxes today, the fireworks show will be a pleasant memory from the night before – and, unfortunately, too late to have been photographed for this week's issue. Photographers are welcome to send their photos of this year's festivities to news@goldingpublications.com, or to post them on The Friday Flyer's Facebook page where they will be instantly reviewed by several thousand people who are exposed to the page each week. Here's to a safe and happy weekend!

My dog's face: A celebration of canine love

My dog's face: A celebration of canine love

Canyon Lakers love their dogs. To celebrate man's (and woman's) best friend, The Friday Flyer invited readers to send a closeup photo of their dog's face. Many wanted to include a little story about their dog, but this wasn't the feature for that. What is heartwarming is how many dogs were "rescued" and have become beloved members of their families. The dog's first name, owner's last name and bree …
