Dennis Bickers took these pictures of the "super moon" last weekend and had to get up mighty early to do so. Of the picture above, he says, "You can see the marine layer over the hills as it came this way from the ocean. In a matter of minutes, after that close-up picture, the marine layer engulfed the moon and blew across Canyon Lake." He says the super moon was at 4:22 a.m. on June 23. A super moon is a new or full moon that coincides with what astronomers call "lunar perigee." That's the point at which the moon is closest to Earth in its elliptical orbit around the planet.

The Canyon Lake City Championship Golf Tournament was held last Saturday and Sunday, June 22 and 23.
