This section provides information submitted by Canyon Lake clubs regarding activities and upcoming events. Information should be submitted to news@goldingpublications no later than 5 p.m. Monday.

Cotillion

Cotillion will meet this evening, April 5, starting promptly at 6:45 p.m. Dance instruction will include Waltz, FoxTrot, Cha Cha and Swing. New members are welcome; the signup fee is $60. Membership includes etiquette, dancing and refreshments. Parents are welcome to join in the last 10 minutes for the final dance. 

Young ladies and gentlemen are expected to dress appropriately. Ladies wear dresses and leather-soled shoes with little or no heel. (No strapless dresses, please). Gentlemen wear leather-soled shoes, button up shirt, jacket or vest and tie. For more information, contact clcotillion@gmail.com or 244-8133.

Woman's Club

The last pre-party for the Fashion Show is being held today, April 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the home of Vicki Young, 22810 Water View Dr. The cost of $10 includes a $5 chance to win $2,500 at the Fashion Show, a cocktail and food.

The next regular meeting of the Woman’s Club will be Wednesday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at the Lodge. For more information, call Membership Chair Johnnie D’Alessandro at 244-4191.

Garden Club

The Garden Club will visit a 1910 Craftsman-style home and gardens in Altadena on Friday, April 12. Lunch will be provided. For information or reservations, call Christy Bruce, 244-2727, or LaVerne Boline, 244-9581.

Wakeboard Club

The Wakeboard Club will host a Learn to Ride Day on Saturday, April 6, in the back part of the the North Ski Area. Signups begin at 8 a.m. at the Ski Pavilion. The club also will host a barbecue; new members who sign up for the Wakeboard Club that day will receive a free Wakeboard Club T-shirt. Contest dates for the Wakeboard Club are May 18, June 22, August 24, September 14 and October 5. Contests are held at the Lake Elsinore Channel. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; riding begins promptly at 9 a.m. For more information, visit www.wakboardclub.com.

CLAMS

The Canyon Lake Association of Men will not have a meeting in April due to the CLAMS golf tournament. The next meeting will be on May 15 at the Country Club. The Laughlin trip is scheduled for September 8 to 10. More information will be posted.

Members are sought to help with setting up, running and tearing down the CLAMS booth at Fiesta Day. To volunteer, call Reggie Hayes at 294-2911.

In addition to meeting on the third Wednesday of the month, CLAMS has a picnic in June and a cocktail party in July. These two activities at Holiday Harbor are for members and their families. The steak dinner at the Country Club in November is for members only.

CLAWS

The Canyon Lake Association of Women (CLAWS) invites all women in the community to join them in playing Bunco on the second Wednesday of the month in the Magnolia Room (downstairs at the Country Club). Games get underway at 3 p.m. but participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to pick up game cards and pay the $10 entry fee.

Participants are asked to bring canned/packaged food to donate to the Menifee Pantry food bank. For more information, contact Rose Hanover at 244-6109.

Travel Club

Members will enjoy a Princess Coastal Cruise out of Long Beach Harbor April 6 to 13. The California Science Center, home of the Space Shuttle, is set for May 2. Reservations are expected to fill quickly.

An outing to Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach is planned for July 25. Sunshine Coast of British Columbia is set for August 15 to 22. “Grapes of Laugh” at the Wonder Valley Ranch in Sanger, California is set for October 21 to 23.

Roadrunners

Roadrunners RV Club dinner meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are moving to the Country Club dining room (or Roadrunner Park when the weather gets warmer). Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6. There are about 115 members representing about 60 recreational vehicles in the club.

In addition to the dinner meetings, the group takes between six and eight trips per year to places as close as Sage, California, and as far as St. George, Utah. For more information about Roadrunners or the trips, contact Ray or Kary Lee Perry at 244-0758 or karyandrayperry@msn.com.

Twirlers Square Dance Club

The Twirlers meet every  Wednesday evening in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. There is a workshop for experienced dancers from 6:15 to 7 p.m. with instructor Vic Kaaria. The class for new dancers is from 7 to p.m.  This is an ongoing class, accepting beginners once a year only in September. 

Regular club dances are held in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge on the second Sunday of each month (except April and May). For more information about square dancing, contact Andy Abeles at 764-3346 or aloriekat55@gmail.com. 

Beginner line dancing classes are held every Tuesday, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Lodge. Beginner to intermediate classes are offered Wednesdays, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Lodge. For line dancing information, call Diana Gallagher at 743-1443.

Fitness and Triathlon Club

Each month the Fitness and Triathlon Club holds a triathlon or duathlon, which are free for paid members. To prepare for these events, the club offers four group practices each week ? i.e. two swim sessions, a bike ride and a run. Yacht Club

Meetings of the Yacht Club are held the fourth Thursday of the month in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. Boat ownership is not a criterion for membership. Members enjoy fun events throughout the year, including the Parade of Lights, moonlight cruise, progressive dinner, Oktoberfest, Lake cleanup and more. Lioness Club

The Canyon Lake Lioness Club holds a dinner meeting at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. The Lioness Club is part of the world’s largest service organization. Lions Club International is dedicated to helping the sight-impaired and people in need around the world. 

Those interested in attending or learning more about Lioness can call Membership Chair Rita Wacker at 244-1881.

Pinochle Club

New members are welcome to join the Pinochle Club, which plays every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center. For more information, call Marlys Shilling at 244-4241 or Hal Funk at 244-3216.

Kids Club

The Kids Club now meets in the Sunset Beach Room at the Lodge each Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. It is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session. Buy a 10-class punch card and get two classes free. Families are invited to check the Canyon Lake Kids Club's Facebook page.

Bosom Buddies

The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey. If you or anyone you know is diagnosed with breast cancer have them call Janelle Basham at 515-0500 or Kimbo Slingerland at 609-4044, or visit clbosombuddies.com.

Chair Volleyball

Members of the Chair Volleyball Club play on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9:45 a.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. The game is played using a beach ball and a slightly lowered net while players are seated. Occasionally, the meeting time changes if an event is scheduled in the Holiday Bay Room, so visitors should check with Bert Barbay at 623-0613 or barbay@ix.netcom.com before heading over there. Membership dues are $10 per year.

Bassmasters

The Bassmasters have meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. Meetings have moved to the Magnolia Room at the Country Club. They hold a tournament on the Saturday following each meeting. They also hold six team tournaments per year, which are open to all residents of Canyon Lake.

The club’s schedule can be found at canyonlakebassmasters.com. The club is active in many community events and hosts the annual Kids Fishing Derby each August. The club also sponsors a Junior Bassmasters Club. Those interested in learning more about bass fishing and low-pressure competition should contact Bassmasters President Steve Baker at 246-1682. Jr. Women's Club

The Jr. Women's Club (JWC) is a non-profit organization that sponsors several events each year to help fund its philanthropic efforts. Fundraising efforts are focused mainly on raising money for the youth of the community, to provide assistance for families in need, to provide local students with scholarship monies, to provide safe playground equipment for area parks, and to sponsor children so that they may participate in activities such as sports, school activities and more.

Tennis Club

The Tennis Club invites residents to come out for Social Play on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. It is open to all levels of players and is a way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. For more information, contact Dave Harrigan at 746-3460 or davenjean@canyontennis.net.

Canyon Lake Junior Tennis League is open to youth of all ages, with the requirement that each prospective player meet with Tennis Pro Baba Soysa for assessment. The Junior League meets every Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m., utilizing four courts. For more information, call Manager Rich Mathews at 378-8832.

Art Association

Meetings of the Art Association are the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the City’s Multi-purpose Room. Meetings are open to the public and all artists are welcome ? painters, sculptors, digital artists, jewelry makers, etc. There are monthly demonstrators. Monday Night Painting is meeting again; however, the location has changed. Painters are invited to bring their own supplies and meet at the Senior Center instead of Blue Bird Hall on Mondays, 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Car Club

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening.
