Holiday Home Tour

On Sunday, December 2, the Woman's Club invites residents to enjoy “A Holiday Wish” Home Tour, which includes a boutique and opportunity drawing for decorated trees, wreaths and centerpieces.

The tour, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will showcase Canyon Lake homes decorated for the holidays. Donation for the tour is $15. Tickets can be purchased at POA Member Services, Pack, Wrap and Post and Coldwell Banker.

The day begins at 9 a.m. at the Lodge, where tickets for the tour, as well as tickets for the drawing for trees, wreaths and centerpieces will be sold. Complimentary coffee and refreshments will be served. Between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., residents can shop at the Woman's Club Holiday Boutique. The opportunity drawing will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Lodge. For more information, call Sue Collins at 246-2773.

Lodge Tree Lighting

The annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony, hosted by the POA and Jr. Women’s Club, will be held at the Lodge on Sunday, December 2, beginning at 5 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by children’s groups, the Choraleers and the Twirlers.

Between 6 and 6:30 p.m., Santa will arrive to light the tree and sit with Mrs. Claus for photographs with children. The Jr. Women’s Club will be holding a food drive. Those who bring canned food donations will receive a ticket for a drawing. Cookies and hot cocoa will be provided for the kids.

Gary Bonner Concert

The Gary Bonner Singers will fill the Holiday Bay Room with “Christmas Memories” on Thursday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Fine Arts Guild and the POA, this annual concert is especially popular for those who love traditional choral music.

"Those who attend for the first time are amazed at the professionalism and charisma of the singers," say organizers. "This is a performance everyone looks forward to to start off the Christmas season."

Created in 1995, this ensemble, under the direction of Conductor Gary Bonner, has demonstrated its virtuosity in concerts all over the Southland and even at the White House.

Tickets are now on sale for $25 at POA Member Services, payable by check or credit card. The Lighthouse Bar and Grill will be open and will offer a 20 percent discount to those who show their tickets. (Note: if dining after the concert, guests should remind ticket takers they will need to keep their ticket to show at the restaurant.)

Town Center Tree Lighting

The Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce will hold the annual Towne Center Tree Lighting festivities on Friday, December 7, at 5:30 p.m. in front of City Hall.

Santa will be arriving by firetruck, welcomed by the Chamber's Royal Court. There will be hot chocolate provided by Tom Gibson of Pepe's and Christmas cookies provided by Russ Smith of Torimax Financial.

Families are invited to bring their own cameras to take pictures of their children with Santa Claus. Face painting and entertainment will be among the evening's activities.

Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa will be offered Saturday, December 8, from 9 to 11 a.m., hosted by the Ski Club. “Pancake Bob” and his staff will be flipping custom-made pancakes for all the young visitors. Parents should bring their own cameras for pictures with Santa, who will arrive by ski boat to the North Ski Area Pavilion. Parking is available in the lot west of the slalom course or on Old Wrangler Rd.

Choraleers Christmas Concert 

The Canyon Lake Choraleers will perform their Christmas concert, "Ringing in the Holidays," on Saturday, December 8, at 3 p.m. at the Lodge. The afternoon event will feature holiday music, sing-alongs and prize drawings. Tickets are $7.50 and are now on sale by calling Patti Miles at 244-7193. Tickets also will be available at the door.

Open Mic at The Cup Above

The Cup Above in the Towne Center offers music, open microphone and an opportunity to have a bite to eat and socialize in an alcohol-free environment on the last Friday of every month. The evening gatherings are free and there is no obligation to purchase anything. The next Open Mic Night is scheduled for November 30.

Musicians, poets, freethinkers, comics and freestylers of all ages are invited to sign up and perform from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. To get on the play list for November 30, call 244-0100. The Cup Above is located at 31700 Railroad Canyon Rd., near Prestige Golf Carts.

Live bands at Pepe's

Pepe's Restaurant and Cantina features live bands on Saturday nights, beginning at 9 p.m. This week's band is All In. Bands playing on Saturdays in December are On the Roxx, Rockandy, Vengeance, All In and Crosstown. Watch for further information about live bands on Fridays.

Parade of Lights

The annual Parade of Lights boat parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 8, beginning at the East Port launch ramp at dusk.

Golf Cart Parade

The Street Carts of Canyon Lake Club is planning a Christmas Parade and Toy Drive on Saturday, December 14. All Canyon Lakers are invited to decorate their carts with lights and decor and join the club for this 2nd annual holiday event.

Golf cart drivers are asked to bring a toy for HOPE (Helping Our People in Elsinore). They also will collect toys from spectators who bring them to the parade. Further details to come.

Christmas Tree Lane     

Lake Elsinore/Wildomar Elks Lodge is hosting its annual “Christmas Tree Lane” at the Elks Lodge, 33700 Mission Trail in Wildomar, on Saturday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

There will be 10 trees, each decorated with a specific theme, along with gifts pertaining to that theme. For example, the Lodge Camper Club will have a tree with RV and camping items. Each tree has an average value of $1,000. Tickets to win a tree are $1 apiece, with discounts for multiple tickets purchased.

Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be there for the kids and food items will be available for purchase. Christmas Tree Lane is one of the programs the Elks use to raise funds for scholarships and other charitable activities.

'Christmas in the Air'

The Southwest Women's Chorus is putting on its annual “Christmas in the Air” concert on Friday, December 15, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, December 16, at 2 p.m. at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater, 42051 Main St. Music will include a mix of traditional carols, spirituals, classical works, sing-alongs and contemporary sacred and secular holiday songs.
