Suspect arrested in murder of Canyon Lake woman


On Tuesday, October 23, Joseph Dorsey, age 28 of Lake Elsinore, wanted in connection with the homicide of Christine Stewart, was located and arrested by Mexican officials along with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Inland Regional Apprehension Team (IRAT) in the city of Rosarito, Mexico.

The Riverside County District Attorney's Office is in the process of arranging the extradition of Joseph Dorsey to the United States for prosecution in Riverside County.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit has been actively investigating the homicide of Christine Stewart, reported missing on August 6, 2012, from the city of Canyon Lake.

Her body was located in a suitcase on August 8 at a Best Western Inn in the city of Poway in San Diego County. The investigation indicated that Stewart was murdered in the city of Lake Elsinore and Dorsey was involved in her murder.
