Betty Jane Brown, 82, passed away December 28, 2011, at her residence in Canyon Lake, succumbing to complications from a stroke.

She was born in Barberton, Ohio, April 9, 1929. Prior to retirement, she worked in the medical field. Her career began as a “candy striper” in the 1940s. Prior to moving to Canyon Lake in September 2008, Betty lived in the Murrieta area for 22 years.

Betty enjoyed Canyon Lake's local restaurants, Taco Tuesday, Fiesta Day, Oktoberfest and golf cart rides in the community.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald E. Brown, and survived by her son, Richard Brown, niece, Cathy Montenegro, and nephew, Christopher Mecanovich.

Viewing will be January 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Evan Brown Mortuary in Sun City. The memorial service will be Saturday, January 21, at 1 p.m. at Evan Brown Mortuary. Reception following service will be at Pepe's Restaurant.
