The Canyon Lake Bassmasters held their first tournament of 2012 on January 7. Participating were 14 boats and 19 anglers, who caught 45 fish totaling 145.62 lbs. of live bass. All fish were weighed and released alive to be caught another day.

In 1st place, fishing solo, was Shannon Perkins with a five-fish limit of 20.12 lbs. and the tourney's Big Fish of 9.02 lbs. In 2nd place were Terry Voss and Dave Roscoe with 19.6 lbs; 3rd place went to Travis Smith, also fishing solo, with 18.82 lbs.

The Bassmasters have meetings in the Towne Center Conference Room on the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. and hold a tournament on the following Saturday. They also hold six team tournaments per year, which are open to all residents of Canyon Lake.
