The Hot Flashes Follies will provide entertainment at the next meeting of the Woman's Club on January 18.

The Twirlers Square Dance Club sponsored a dance at the Lodge on Sunday, January 8, for their 38th anniversary. Canyon Lake residents Bill Done, Margie Zingg, Helen Shepherd and Ray Kellett were honored as "Golden Dancers" and presented a certificate and a "dangle" (bar pin) that will be attached to their club name badge. A new Beginning Square Dance Class starts Wednesday, January 18.

Twirlers Square Dance Club

The Twirlers are sponsoring a†new Beginning Square Dance Class, starting Wednesday, January 18. The first day of class is free to all who are interested. It is open to singles, couples and families. Children must be at least 10 years of age and accompanied by an adult at all times.

"This is a great way to exercise, socialize and make new friends," says spokesperson Melinda Townsend. "No dancing experience needed."

The Twirlers Square Dance Club beginning square dance class is held every Wednesday, 7 to 8:15 p.m. in the Holiday Bay Room at the Lodge. Regular club dances are held on the second Sunday of each month in the Holiday Bay Room.

Beginner line dance classes are held every Tuesday, 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Lodge. All ages are welcome. A beginning to intermediate line dance class is offered Wednesdays, 3 to 5 p.m., in the Holiday Bay Room. Each class is $4. For more information, call 244-0672 or visit canyonlaketwirlers.org.

CLAMS

The first meeting of the year for the Canyon Lake Association of Men will be held Wednesday, January 18, at the Country Club. Bud Hanner is cooking chicken tortilla soup. Drinks are served at 6; dinner at 7. It's renewal time and a good time to join for those interested. The year is filled with events, including the April golf tournament, June picnic, July cocktail party, Laughlin bus trip and the steak dinner in November. Membership is $25 per year. Travel Club

A one-day Covered Wagon Tour and Cookout in the Coachella Valley is scheduled for February 16. “Out of Africa” is the theme for the March 2 dinner-dance. Spend April 12 at Santa Anita Park. Sign up for a 4-day 3-night Deluxe Motor Coach trip to Yosemite from June 26 to 29. Costa Rica is the destination for travelers September 8 to 15.

Republican Women

The next meeting of the Canyon Lake Republican Women's Club will be Monday, January 23, at 10 a.m. in the Magnolia Room of the Country Club. Topics up for discussion will be: merging with the Temecula Republican Women's Club, officers for 2012, national election of 2012 and the fundraiser in March. Choraleers

The Choraleers will start rehearsing for their Spring Concert Monday, January 16, in the City Multi-purpose Room.†Spokesperson Patti Miles reminds Canyon Lakers that singing is linked to stress reduction. Cotillion

Cotillion signups for 2012 will continue at upcoming meetings. According to facilitator Ed Strong, “This is a wonderful program to help socialize our young people. The program works best when an equal number of ladies and gentlemen participate. Young gentlemen are encouraged to participate, and young ladies' participation may be limited if there are not enough young men."

February 3 will be the annual Valentine’s party. Young ladies are asked to bring homemade goodies to share. Gentlemen are urged to show appreciation by bringing a small bouquet. Canyon Lake Florist in the Towne Center will make something special for a nominal cost.

The dress code for young ladies is a nice dress and comfortable shoes. Flats are preferred, but one-inch heels can be worn. Gentlemen are required to wear a suit or dress slacks, long-sleeved shirt, long tie worn under a jacket, vest or sweater vest, and dress shoes. Athletic shoes and school clothes are not permitted.

The March 9 meeting is the start of etiquette curriculum. The Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha and East Coast Swing dance steps will be taught.

Fitness and Triathlon Club

The first event of the year will be a run-bike-run event Saturday, January 14, sponsored by Hammer Nutrition. The event is designed for all levels. Hammer will provide sample products for everyone who participates. Friends from IE Bikes also will be there. †

The second annual Fit Community event will be held January 21, with many from the community expected to participate. The Spartan Race at Vail Lake will be on January 28, with several members participating. Tennis Club

The Tennis Club will host its New Member Mixer on Saturday, January 14, at 9 a.m. The deadline to register has passed. The Tennis Club invites residents to come out for Social Play on Mondays and Fridays at 9 a.m. It is open to all levels of players and is a way to meet other players without committing to a schedule. Woman’s Club

The next meeting will be on January 18, at 10 a.m. at the Lodge. The program will be a song, dance and comedy performance by the “Hot Flashes Follies.” The deadline for registration and cancellation has passed. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items for HOPE.

The Canyon Lake Woman’s Club is a non-profit, non-partisan philanthropic service organization dedicated to the enrichment of Canyon Lake and helping others less fortunate. General meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month. For more information, call Johnnie D’Alessandro at 244-4191.

Community Theatre

Kids Club

Canyon Lake Kids Club meets at Blue Bird Hall each Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. According to spokesperson Nickey Frakes, the theme for the month of January is "food." Parent volunteers will be introducing the food groups through crafts and snacks. They also are planning a field trip. The Kids Club is a program in which young children and their parents or grandparents can enjoy a morning of crafts, music, exercise, games, sports and a snack for just $2 per session.

Car Club

Car Club spokesperson Chuck Casey says the Car Club has many exciting plans for 2012, including the annual Garage Tour, Live Auction, trips to Big Bear and Solvang, supporting local shows and businesses, Chamber Storm Game Barbecue, Railroad Canyon Road Adopt-a-Highway and, of course, the annual Car Show on October 6.

The Car Club holds meetings the first Thursday of each month at the Lodge. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the general meeting at 6:30. Learn about upcoming events, listen to guest speakers and share automotive experiences. Finger foods will be served and a 50/50 drawing will round out the evening. Bible Fellowship

The Canyon Lake Bible Fellowship will begin meeting the third week of January; place and time to be announced.†President Steve Martin says the club will be focusing on its original vision, which is to be more community involved, helping those in need.

Yacht Club

Meetings of the Yacht Club are held the fourth Thursday of the month in the Pool View Room at the Lodge. Boat ownership is not a criterion for membership. Members enjoy fun events throughout the year, including the moonlight cruise, progressive dinner, Oktoberfest, Lake cleanup and more. For more information, contact Kathy Bacon at 246-9968.

Pinochle Club

Roadrunners

Art Association

Jr. Women’s Club

Chair Volleyball

Members of the Chair Volleyball Club play on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 9:45 a.m. in the Holiday Bay Room. The game is played using a beach ball and a slightly lowered net†while players are†seated.

Bosom Buddies

The Bosom Buddies mission is to educate, inspire and support newly diagnosed breast cancer patients during their breast cancer journey. Motorcycle Club

The Motorcycle Club is the 2011 Chamber of Commerce Organization of the Year and holds monthly meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. with dinner and fellowship at the North Shore Condos Clubhouse, 22570 Bass Pl.
